Dr. Puppala’s research team presents at Infrastructure Advancement Institute Summit 2025, Houston, TX

Posted on June 11, 2025 by Avinash Gonnabathula

Dr. Puppala’s research team showcased their innovative work at the Infrastructure Advancement Institute (IAI) Summit 2025, held in Houston, TX, where two team members presented exciting posters.

Zoheb Faisal present his research on ‘Mechanical and Durability Characteristics of Soil-Geopolymer Composites (SGC)’ presented his research on Mechanical and Durability Characteristics of Soil-Geopolymer Composites (SGC), emphasizing SGC’s promise as a sustainable construction material made by blending local soils with pozzolanic binders activated by alkaline solutions—offering applications from lean concrete slurry to soil stabilization with mechanical properties bridging the gap between stabilized soils and traditional concrete.

Mahia Mahbub Riana presented her study on ‘Use of Reinforced Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) in Concrete Foundation Systems for Thermal Insulation and Subgrade Soil Stress Reduction’, highlighting experimental findings that demonstrate how EPS-reinforced concrete foundations can significantly enhance thermal insulation and reduce stress on underlying soils.

Both presenters engaged with industry professionals, receiving valuable feedback and commendations for their impactful and forward-looking research.
