Muddassir Sanei, a Ph.D. student from Dr. Puppala’s research group, presented work at the ASCE International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD 2026) held in June 2026 in Detroit, Michigan.
His research work titled “Efficacy and Sustainability Benefits of Innovative Materials for Stabilization of Problematic Pavement Subgrades” focused on the impact of innovative materials on resilient infrastructure development. It studied the improvement of problematic pavement subgrades by evaluating both traditional and innovative materials, such as recycled concrete aggregate fines and geopolymers. Additionally, instead of just evaluating performance, it quantified their sustainability impact by comparing environmental performance, cost-effectiveness, and resource consumption. The study demonstrated that the utilization of innovative materials for the stabilization of subgrades is a viable option with significant
