Monitoring the safety of railroad tracks using cutting-edge sensors

Posted on March 14, 2022 by Hiramani Chimauriya

Our research group is collaborating with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to monitor the safety of railroad tracks using cutting-edge sensors. As part of the ongoing project funded by FRA, Dr. Surya Congress (Lead-PI) and Dr. Anand Puppala (Co-PI) are deploying Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and using Computer Vision techniques to evaluate the safety conditions of the rail infrastructure in rural areas. We will be disseminating the findings soon, feel free to reach out to us if you are interested in learning more about our research.
