Our enthusiastic team from Dr Puppala’s research group, including four postdoctoral fellows and seven doctoral (PhD) students, recently had the honor of participating in the TRB 2024 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. This event marked a significant milestone in their academic and research journeys, offering invaluable opportunities for growth, learning, and networking for all of us. It was particularly thrilling for five of our seven students and three postdoctoral fellows, who attended TRB for the first time, witnessing the vibrant intersection of academia and industry. Our group had a strong research presence as well with seven technical presentations across podium and poster sessions, showcasing our latest research and findings. Each member actively engaged in multiple Technical Committee meetings, contributing to discussions in specialized areas such as geotechnical instrumentation and modeling, stabilization of geo-materials and recycled materials, geo-environmental and climatic impacts on geo-materials, geospatial data acquisition technologies, and geosynthetics. We thank TRB committee chairs for their support and encouragement of our young members. The senior postdoctoral member of our group, Dr. Nripojyoti Biswas and I had the privilege of presenting at a workshop and panel on “Stabilization of Geomaterials with Different Polymer Additives,” contributing valuable insights to this critical topic. We’re proud to announce that Amit Gajurel has been appointed a member of the AKD70 – Standing Committee on Geospatial Data Acquisition Technologies. All attendees had the unique opportunity to meet and engage with notable figures like Mr. Gregory D. Winfree, Esq., Director of Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) and Prof. Judy Perkins, Google Endowed Professor and Director ofย National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT)ย and Dr. Robert C. Hampshire, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Research and Technology at U.S. Department of Transportation(USDOT) at both TTI and NCIT reception events. We thank them for their encouragement and support.
The TRB Annual Meeting was not just an event for us; it was a platform where we built new connections, shared our knowledge, and gained unparalleled experiences. We’re grateful for this opportunity and excited about the future collaborations and projects that will stem from this event.
