We are thrilled to announce a recent publication “Characterization of Cement-Polymer-Treated Soils under Repeated Loading” in the ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering by Prince Kumar, Anand J Puppala, Surya Sarat Chandra Congress, and Jeb S. Tingle. This study investigates the strength and ductile behavior of sandy soils treated with cement and a combination of cement and vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) copolymer. The results show an increase in unconfined compressive strength (UCS) after both treatments compared to control soil specimens. The addition of VAE to cement treatment improves the ductile behavior of the soil specimens. Resilient moduli also improve after treatment. The research suggests using both three-parameter models to determine the resilient modulus of soils. The study recommends the use of a mixture of cement and polymer for soil stabilization.
