We are excited to announce a recent open-source publication โAssessment of Durability of Chemically Stabilized Soils Using Different Moisture Susceptible Methodsโ in Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board authored by Prince Kumar, Anand J Puppala, Nripojyoti Biswas, Surya Sarat Chandra Congress, Jeb S. Tingle, and Dallas N Little focuses on evaluating the durability of soils that have undergone chemical stabilization. The study employs various testing methods to evaluate moisture susceptibility. These methods were water immersion tests which included the tube suction test method, the ASTM Wet-Dry Method cycles, and the wet test method by ERDC from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Each of these tests simulates different environmental conditions that stabilized soils might encounter in real-world scenarios. The results indicate that certain chemical stabilizers perform better in resisting moisture damage than others. For instance, soils treated with lime and cement showed improved resistance in most of the tests compared to those treated with other stabilizers.
