Zulkar Nain, a driven and ambitious individual, is currently embarking on an exhilarating journey toward a master’s degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. From the earliest days of his academic pursuits, the allure of engineering had captivated his mind, accompanied by an unwavering desire to forge a remarkable career path while making a positive impact on his community. After completing high school, an opportunity beckoned him to join the most esteemed engineering institution in his homeland, Bangladesh. There, he immersed himself in the world of Civil Engineering, specializing in the intricate realm of Structural Engineering at the prestigious Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). As time unfolded, Zulkar’s passion for Geotechnical Engineering grew exponentially, eclipsing his initial fascination with Structural Engineering. This newfound interest became an irrefutable calling, leading him to pursue a master’s degree in Geotechnical specialization. With an unwavering commitment to expanding his knowledge and expertise, Zulkar diligently pursued his academic aspirations, eager to unravel the depths of this captivating field. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Zulkar’s talents were recognized, and he was entrusted as a research assistant for a momentous government feasibility study and detailed engineering design project. Working under the guidance of a distinguished professor at BUET, he contributed his skills to the development of jetty and terminal infrastructures across four diverse locations in Bangladesh. This invaluable experience not only honed his technical prowess but also nurtured his ability to navigate complex engineering challenges with precision and finesse. Fueled by his insatiable curiosity and the desire to gain firsthand experience, Zulkar ventured into the realm of site civil engineering. Taking on the role of a site civil engineer in a self-funded private construction project, he delved deep into the realities of executing complex construction projects on-site. This hands-on experience offered him invaluable insights into the intricacies of project management, problem-solving, and the meticulous coordination required to bring visionary ideas to life. Zulkar Nain’s journey as a civil engineer is an amalgamation of relentless pursuit, unwavering determination, and a fervent desire to leave a lasting impact on society. Previous Experience
Site Civil Engineer, Genuine Engineering & Electronics, Nov 2020 – Nov 2022
Responsibilities & Achievements: Served for a self-funded private construction project of a 10 storied commercial building by ensuring the quality of construction and monitoring the development of the project at the site • Checked progress of the project as planned in the structural design manual • Co-led a team of 50 construction workers with supervisors by guiding through construction plan • Prevented loss of $50K on potential safety hazards by reporting issues to clients and supervisors • Proposed solutions to challenges popping up at site, i.e., disruption of formwork, faulty structural drawings, etc. • Optimized time and finished project at least 6 months prior to the expected completion date
Research Assistant (RA), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Oct 2019 – Jan 2020
Responsibilities & Achievements: Collaborated with a government feasibility study and detailed engineering design project of the jetty and terminal infrastructures at 4 different locations in Bangladesh worth $600K • Scrutinized and corrected faulty structural drawing manuals of all 4 projects with 230 pages each using AutoCAD and printed the upgraded versions after improving accuracy up to 100% • Increased quality of project’s design by leading to the more durable and functional final outcome
