Description
The IPC Global triaxial setup can be used to perform monotonic, cyclic, and repeated load triaxial tests on cylindrical soil specimens having 2.86 inch dia and 5.72 inch height (aspect ratio ≈ 2). The system requires both air and water pressures to operate. The axial actuator operates on air pressure, whereas the volume change and cell pressure devices have air-water interfaces for transmission and application of pressure.
Testing Ranges
- Axial actuator: ± 25 mm
- Load cell: ± 10 kN
- Cell pressure: 700 kPa
- Volume change device: ± 100 cc
- LVDT: ± 5 mm
Material Properties
Test | Property |
Consolidated drained test | Effective shear strength parameters |
Consolidated undrained test | Total and effective shear strength parameters |
Unconsolidated undrained test | Undrained shear strength parameter |
Repeated load triaxial test | Resilient modulus |
Field Applications
- Shear strength parameters for slope stability analysis, and foundation design; resilient modulus for pavement design
